"Let them in, and take them out."
|
Second Floor
She's neither disgusted, nor reviled a the sight. In the last few years--in her whole life, really--she's seen just as many bodies. Some of them in even worse shape than this.
None of it bothers her.
What's really bothering her, more than she could ever possibly say, is the fact that she isn't...bothered. She can't even bring herself to feel sad right now. She feels nothing. She's just...numb.
At least until she looks up and sees Obi-Wan. There's a curious comfort in familiar face.]
You made it.
no subject
I did.
[ And how fortunate he is, not just for surviving, but having a friend out there that's invested in him living on. In light of that, he wouldn't be a very good friend if he didn't try to return the favor. ]
What's the matter? [ His eyebrows knit together and he dips his head slightly, eyes turning to take in their gruesome surroundings. ] Beyond the very obvious, I mean.
[ Perhaps it's a whisper in the Force, or maybe just plain old intuition, but there's a sense of something lonely and cold and stony about Fatima that he doesn't ever remember seeing before. ]
no subject
I'm okay. Just trying to figure out what happened her.
[A pause. She glances from side to side.]
Beyond the very obvious, again.
no subject
I've found myself back here more than once already with the same thought, although I've been less than successful.
Have you found anything?
no subject
Well, it definitely wasn't natural causes.
They clearly had some kind of a fight.
[It's her destiny, she's sure, to die the same way. She sure as hell won't go down without a fight.]
I mean...just look at them.
no subject
[ From what he can see, those left behind didn't have too much of a chance. It unsettles him, makes him think back to all of the desperate people he and the other Jedi had tried (and sometimes failed) to save.
His expression remains grim. ]
But what were they fighting over? Or for? I'll be curious to see. I hardly think the Ingress would be worth this, but there does seem to be a theme if the first floor is any indication.
no subject
[She kneels down beside one body, without touching it, examining the way it's been arranged. It's all too clinical. She knows it.]
I told you before, that an organization once used something similar to the Ingress to kidnap me. And others from across the multiverse. TO conduct experiments in fear.
There could be an infinite number of similar organizations out there.
Or worse.
Someone could collect an infinite number of one person, or one kind of person, using it. For any number of reasons.
no subject
I don't— disagree, although I can't think of one reason myself.
[ His frown deepens. ]
Honestly, I don't think anywhere would benefit from an infinite number of mes.
no subject
[She looks up at him, over her shoulder.]
Don't sell yourself short. You have a lot of singular talents that someone could see as being of value.
[Fatima does as well, although she knows better than to brag about it right now.
Gently, she leans over to close the corpse's eyes.]
And even without talents, you might have other things they could want. Like vital organs or tissues.
no subject
[ He almost feels as if he could put a hand over his kidney and save himself waking up in a tub filled with ice. But they both know that's not how these incidents tend to go. ]
I'm much more effective with all of my organs and tissues intact.
[ Quip at he may, he doesn't feel much like lingering around this place. Nor does he feel much like leaving Fatima behind. ]
Are you planning on hanging around?
no subject
No.
But I'm not sure where we go from here.
[There's no way this is getting better. But there's also no way she's just going to sit on her hands either. She's a woman of action, she needs to be in motion.]
