[ It actually surprises Snake to hear that Ahab hadn't been willing to discuss alternatives. He seems like a realist through and through, so the fact that he's determined to believe they'll make it back one day only adds another layer to him.

If Snake and Miller are on the same page about the reality of the situation, though, that's what matters. Snake hasn't really broached this subject with anyone else (because he wanted to see how his mentor would react first, maybe?).

Snake nods in solidarity with Miller, then begins to move out of the room so that they can find themselves some more privacy. Even if they'd already been out of earshot, better safe than sorry. ]


My guess is they thought the deaths of the people here would prevent many more deaths out in the greater universe. [ It's a common argument. If a handful of deaths can stop so many more from happening, isn't it the right choice? Snake doesn't think he's qualified to answer that, even if he's carried out that philosophy in the past. ]

Hnn. Even if the Ingress tech probably shouldn't exist, I'm not sure that's the kind of train we can stop. [ It's something worth thinking about, though. ]
