The longer he goes on, the more obvious it becomes that he continues to do things, say such things, for his own benefit. He convinces no one else but himself. There is nothing wrong with making a mistake, he says, and then apologizing, he says. There is nothing wrong with making a simple little error, is there? Of course not! Errors can be corrected. Errors can be corrected. Errors can be ERASED.

For all his flaws, they would never have thought naivete to be among them. And yet - what a blissfully optimistic stance for one such as him to take. Burdened by his guilt, weighed with a flare of justice that strikes true, and still he insists - can people not change? Can people not fix their errors? Can people not apologize, and move on?






What a dreadful, familiar tune.
