"I don't know." It's a quiet admission. Maybe it is too late. Maybe it's not worth just having a few days. Maybe what he's asking for is cruel. Having something for such a small amount of time might only make it hurt worse. Having only a few hours that will soon be erased might seem meaningless in the long run.

"Maybe. But I don't want it to be too late. Even if it is, I still want it."

He thinks to grab her hand again, make her see his point. But that's not how this has to end. He's making his choice. She has to make her own.
