It's a familiar push-pull, really, and he hopes she doesn't recognize it (even if she surely does). His only saving grace is that Jack Morrison had been a much more agreeable patient, used to being poked and prodded and complaining little in return. He wishes he could offer that to her again, but it was all in another life. He can't quite relinquish himself to her like he used to.
