[Adam's trying to reconcile everything that Kavinsky says. He tries not to focus on any one detail and it's not hard. While the drugs he'd just taken don't numb him there's a buffer, he can still feel it hit him but it's like he's insulated, it'll hurt later. It'll hurt a lot. He can feel the hints of the pain through the buffer.
