That's the first time he has ever referred to her that way and she's tempted to bump his leg because of it, but instead she just shoots him a look and then returns her attention to her food.

"The Ingress cloned another crew member to give me a body," she says. "Back where we came from I always used one of the Project's robot bodies."

Hence, yes, the reason she never ate with them, or used their locker room. Hence the reason Delta is picking up things he doesn't expect, like a heartbeat and respiration. It's because this isn't a gynoid of some kind—it's a genuine flesh-and-blood body, ostensibly borrowed, but all hers.

She takes a bite of her breakfast, as though this is necessary to prove that. "It's so strange that you're here," she says after swallowing. "The Ingress hasn't brought anyone new in in months."
