the good, the bad, and the weird | OPEN
Who: Hanzo Shimada & YOU
When: Mid-August
Where: Various locations! Shooting range, garden, and observation deck ahoy.
What: Catch-all for Hanzo. Shooting up targets with arrows, trying (and failing) to meditate, and then watching the stars.
Warnings: Angry ninja
i. - rooty tooty point and shooty | shooting range
[Things are from quiet in his mind.
Years ago, when he still held a blade, archery had been his source to calm his mind. It forced him to focus, consider the shot, and keep his mind clear. It gave him peace when few other things would. Now, with the bow and arrow being his main weapon, it's less meditation, more practice.
It doesn't help as it used to.
He doesn't hold a gun. Instead, he's peering down the targets like he'd almost prefer to gut them somehow, or he has a specific face on them in mind. Every arrow fired is deliberate, with purpose.
And every one of them hit home.
Eventually, he lowers his bow and lets out an irritable sigh, feeling no less calm than he did when he started.
Whenever you enter, he's turning his head sharply to look at you, snapping:]
What.
ii. - not a single bit of growth | garden
[Hanzo knows how to meditate. He used to, often, in his younger years.
He hasn't for sometime now.
The gardens are a pleasant surprise and welcoming presence. The air is less stale here, and gives him the feeling that he isn't as far from Earth as the truth.
He's seated on the ground, his eyes closed, his brows furrowed in concentration. Despite his attempts, he is completely tense, like a string ready to snap.
When he hears you, Hanzo lets out an annoyed growl:]
Whatever it is you are doing, do it somewhere else or another time.
iii. - the stars have secrets | observation deck
[And still, here is the truth: him, on a spaceship, traveling to who knows where with a ship full of various creatures and people from across the galaxy, time and space, and dimensions.
Genji included.
It was all difficult to take for the first couple of weeks, and now isn't so much different, but there's almost a more morose, bitter acceptance at his situation. So, it is here, Hanzo sits in front of the window. His eyes aren't watching the stars at the moment.
Instead, his fingers are busy, folding paper. He's already made some origami, as seen by the small collection next to him of various shapes and animals.
He's tired. This is the next best thing.
Better than sleeping, anyway.]
