Wake Me Up Inside

Who: Allison and Robin! Plus visitors/medical staff?
When: Aug 1
Where: Medbay
What: Allison wakes up from Cryo and everything sucks.
Warnings: Injuries and sad children.


Allison is not in a great mood. First she'd woken up in a cryo tube and what the hell when did she get there? Then she'd stepped on a shard of glass - goddammit her hair was still glass, too - which helpfully embedded itself in her foot.

After a great deal of swearing and contemplation over whether or not it was a good idea to pull the shard out - it might go deeper? Or she'll bleed more if it's out? Movies didn't prepare her for this - she decided to go limping through the hallway, a standard boot on one foot and her injured foot bare except for a sock tugged over her toes that is starting to leave streaks of blood on the floor as it soaks through.

More swearing ensues. And why are the hallways so dim and kinda chilly anyway?!

Yeah, she is definitely not in a great mood when she finally limps into Medbay.

Can't wake up

Robin doesn't look up when she hears the medbay's automatic doors open. People come in and out of here all the time, after all, for any number of reasons - and she doesn't really want to interact with any of them, anyway.

She doesn't really want to talk with anyone, since she woke up from cryo and shattered her leg. So, instead, she keeps her head down, nose stuck firmly in a book she's reading, with a thin blanket covering her from the waist down.

Her bed is visible from the door, though, meaning that Allison has a full view of her adopted little girl.

Allison's constant stream of cursing comes to a sudden halt the moment she sees Robin in that hospital bed. This is approximately the last sight she expected or wanted to see upon entering medbay, and she's too stunned to notice anything other than 'my tiny ex-barista is in the hospital'.

"Robin? What are you doing here??"

"Allison?"

Robin, on the other hand, had been desperately hoping to see Allison for a while now. She's been scared and hurt in the medbay for days, and while Doc Yewll and the Girl have been there for her, Robin couldn't help but miss her former boss's reassuring presence.

Unfortunately, Allison's question is answered immediately and with very little tact, as she sits up in the bed and turns to face the woman - out of excitement to see the woman who is increasingly becoming a maternal figure in her life, more than anything. As she turns, her left leg is left dangling over the side of the hospital bed.

Her right leg is nowhere to be seen.

"Heh, yeah, it's me-" Allison is planning to act sheepish about her weeping foot wound and the fact that she decided to bleed her way across to ship - maybe she should have... Called for help... - but she's distracted by the blank space where Robin should have a leg.

"Holy shit, Robin!" She hobbles over to the bed as fast as she can hands hovering over that disturbingly empty space. "Your leg!"

That does it. Robin's been crying a lot these last few days - losing a limb and spending all of one's time in a hospital bed will do that to a child. So it shouldn't come as a huge shock that Allison's sudden exclamation (understandable though her surprise may be) is enough to set the little girl off.

"I-It's gone, Allison. While I was frozen, something happened and - and it got turned into glass." She says, tears already making their way down her face. "And when I woke up, I-I tripped coming out of the container and it just-"

She lets out a choked sob.

"It just shattered."

"Shit, yeah things got glassed-" Her own hair is still a chiming mess of delicate-looking strands trapped in a ponytail. But that at least is way tougher than it looks, and not as vital as a leg.

"Ffh- Goddamnit," she says, voice softening. Ignoring her foot, she wraps her arms around Robin. "Aw, Fingers..."

Why was this little girl's life so hard?
