Wanda/River
I know you girls are inside. I'be checked literally the rest of the ship.
[Another series of taps, and he leans against the door with a sigh.]
I'm going to loose it if I have to stay in my room much longer.
no subject
Brothers take so much looking after.
She gets up, going to the door and opening it just enough to peak through at him with a mischievous look in her eyes. ]
Do you know the password?
no subject
Wanda abandons her book and slides to the edge of the bed, barely holding back laughter.]
Otherwise it's girls only.
no subject
Is it, you're both the best? And that you'd never make me sit out here all night so you'll let me in now?
no subject
The door opens the rest of the way. ]
You're very good at guessing.
Loki
Oh. Hey.
[He stares openly at Loki, arms crossed over his chest.]
Are you going to ask me to leave?
no subject
He recognises this one, though. Wanda's not-brother, Billy's not-uncle. Not an Avenger, this Quicksilver, and it remains to be seen if he's nearly as arrogant or irritating.]
Should I? It's not as if you're disturbing anything particularly secret or personal.
[Not that he wouldn't, of course, but as he's alone in here right now, he's pretty much guaranteed to not be doing anything too unusual.]
I see you're back on your feet. Congratulations are in order, I think, for not being dead.
no subject
[A side effect of conspiring to commit murder; people don't like you. Who knew?]
Uh, thanks. Kind of surprised you care. At least enough to say it.
no subject
[He committed genocide on a massive level in a past life. Killed a few hundred angels, in this one, although he still has no regrets for that; murderous sociopaths, all of them, and he'd given them so many chances to back out...
Still, the point stands, he can hardly judge, can he?]
Not for you, if that eases any discomfort. But Wanda might have been disappointed if you didn't survive, and Billy has lost more than enough people he might be inclined to care about. And survival is always worth congratulating.
no subject
Petty details.
Particularly when said god is mentioning his nephew. Wanda he can understand; after the trial he's pretty sure that cat's out of the bag. But the other?]
You know Billy? You know Billy kind of well, it sounds like?
no subject
As often as possible, in fact.
[He shrugs, makes his expression fall into much blanker lines. He's a rather secretive person when it comes to what Billy is or isn't to him, at least when it comes to how Loki feels about it. His hand creeps up though, running over the scar on his face.]
Very well indeed. We have... history.
no subject
Right, so you two are friends. And you already know Wanda. You must think I'm a real skuzz not talking to you much yet. [He shrugs sheepishly.] You knew him from before?
no subject
[He has a bad habit of being evasive, even if he doesn't mean to be. And there was, before their previous prison dimension, some very bad blood between them; better for Billy to decide how much of it to tell.
Loki is also, sometimes, a coward.]
I'm used to people not really wanting to talk to me. They tend to find me... unsettling, perhaps?
no subject
[He shrugs, not particularly bothered by Loki's lack of explanation. Billy was still the one related to Peter, by blood and magic and name. What he said had more weight for Peter than anything Loki could possibly tell him.]
You don't seem unsettling to me. Maybe a little weird, but who isn't?
[And it's not like he isn't used to weird.]
no subject
[He tips his head, smile turning calculating at the edges, just for a moment before he makes himself stop. Fear is not as good as respect, no matter what his elder self thought, and there's not much point making people deliberately uncomfortable for amusement now if it might make life harder later. Billy might not always choose him, after all.]
No? Well, that's your opinion, I suppose, and I'm willing to risk potentially being wrong when I assume you have no Loki in your own world.
no subject
[He deadpans, snorting. He's pretty sure from the smile that this guy could care less about his opinion anyway. Which is fine, he could do with more people not caring about what he thought or did.]
Not that I know of? Why are you supposed to be famous or something?
no subject
[He shrugs. Looking back, with hindsight made clear by not being completely insane, cackling and talking about himself in the third person hadn't been a good start on not being unsettling, and talking about mere mortals as he ruined their lives hadn't helped..]
But yes, when the Loki most people know of spent very little caring on mere mortals, they do find it rather ominous meeting someone with my name.
no subject
But like, I said. I've never heard of you. And alternate universes are apparently a thing, so just because some version of you caused shit doesn't mean I have to be freaked out by you. So, you know, if you're trying to scare me off from talking to you, you might want to try harder.
no subject
[He smiles, dry and self-deprecating, because it is true he tends to be a little wordy when he gets going.]
But yes, multiple dimensions do make things interesting. You're rather younger than the Maximoffs back home, both of you.
no subject
[He shrugs. He's heard some about himself and his sister from Billy's world, from Billy's point of view. It's a little daunting to hear about the cooler, older version of himself that everyone, including his nephew, thought so well of.
He laughs awkwardly.]
So Billy's mentioned. I mean, obviously right? Wanda so doesn't look old enough to have a teenager. And apparently everyone expects me to not be a teenager. Or at least to be the same age as my twin.
no subject
Mmm, let's just say the version of you in that world has made more than a few mistakes of his own in his time.
[He suspects bringing up the rather messy ex-wife and child thing might scare Peter off entirely, which isn't his intent.]
...Well, if you ever want a neutral party's viewpoint on anyone's duplicates in our world, you'll know where to find me. Billy is... a little biased, sometimes. Far too inclined to loyalty where it perhaps shouldn't be.
no subject
[And maybe Billy had tried to be kind by only selling Pietro's better points. Or maybe Peter just took the obvious affection in Billy's tone the wrong way.]
He's family. Families tend to be pretty damn loyal, particularly ours. I'm betting that's not so different in your world.
no subject
[And of course Loki knows where most of the biggest flaws are. Secrets and lies and manipulation always were his strongest talents, back when he'd been burning.
Mostly what he remembers about Quicksilver, however, is being very annoyed at having him constantly turn up all the time when Loki had been pretending to be the Scarlet Witch, for reasons of his own. Far too devoted to be healthy, really, but Loki isn't going to mention that. Nor is he mentioning their purported father, unless that comes up some other way.]
Certainly Quicksilver has always seemed very... dependant on his sister. And the Scarlet Witch has done more than a few things she perhaps shouldn't for her family, including Billy. But for all Billy might have been Wanda's once, he's entirely his own person. Make no mistakes in thinking that just because one of his mothers is a Maximoff, he isn't just as much Kaplan.
no subject
[Sure Wanda had tried to tell him Pietro had issues with stealing and flirting, but neither of those seemed like a real flaw to Peter. He was under the impression she didn't think so either, with the way she only drug it out to combat what Peter was trying to say about himself.]
There's nothing you shouldn't do for family. [And he'll believe that, as long as he remains unaware of many screw ups of the twins of Billy's world or the numerous ones of his father in his own.] Him having another family doesn't mean he'd be any less loyal when talking about Pietro. Believe me, he's already given me the short version of his, uh, situation.
Cassandra
He's not even sure anymore if anyone's actually upset or if he's just imagining the judgment on everyone's faces. He doesn't particularly want to think to hard about it.
Lucky that a swim with a cute girl doesn't require much difficult thinking.
Even if it's not the girl he would like to see.]Cass.
[He waves as he flops on the ground near the pool, pulling at his shoes.]
You are a true genius with great ideas. I'm just putting that out there now.
no subject
[She says it in the sort of way someone with an ego might, but in her case it's more feigned confidence about this idea than anything else. She's in the middle of pulling her shirt off, since she plans on just hopping in wearing her bra and panties. Actual swimming attire is wasted on someone who's survived the apocalypse.]
It's good to see you out and moving around, Peter. I was worried you might try to stay cooped up after all that happened.
no subject
Honestly, I was considering it.
[But his roommate happens to be another program and that made staying there awkward. And he's quickly realized he can't just crash in his sisters' room forever. They deserved space that didn't involve a boy living there.]
But what can I say? You convinced me.
no subject
It's not gonna do you any good to hide away somewhere. People will think shit about you no matter what you do. You might as well enjoy yourself.
no subject
Who says I give any shits about what people think about me?
[His current problem has a lot more to do with how he's thinking about himself. But that's not an issue he's here to work out. He's here to swim.
Peter takes a step back and then canonballs into the water. He breaks the surface and shakes his long hair from his face.]
no subject
[She retorts, her voice more playful than anything. She observes him standing there, and smirks as she splashes over at him. She's about to yell at him to hop in, but then he's cannonballing his way in, and she ends up with a face full of water. She coughs and sputters, glaring over at him through her now messed up hair that's clinging to her face.]
Very graceful. Remind me to move out of the way next time you decide to jump in.
[She doesn't really seem to care though, and lazily swims her way over toward him.]
no subject
About what a few think, not everybody.
[He smiles slightly, swims back a little to keep out of her reach. He doesn't entirely trust her not to try to pull him under.]
What I'm hearing is that you plan for us to do this again.
no subject
[She didn't get to have a pool growing up, so she's going to make up for lost time by swimming a lot here. She starts to swim over toward him slowly, in a fake lazy sort of way that says she's not up to any good. It's probably smart of him to be moving away.]
Is that gonna be a problem?
no subject
[He's found little ways to occupy his time, but he can admit a lot of the shine of this ship has worn off over the months. It's a confined, predictable space and coming out the other side of this trial, the people are even losing their appeal to him.]
Nope. [He pops the 'p', grins.] Not sure if you've picked up on this yet, but I don't say no much around pretty people.
