"Big things have small beginnings."
☄ DECONTAMINATION #2 ( 04.14 - 04.17 ) On the Moira, crew come and go without much hassle. They take a transporter to planets and moons and back again without any fuss... Until today. All crew that try to reboard the Moira coming back from Del Pascia will be denied access, a warning flashing on their MID - Decontamination Required for Entry. It’s a protocol that hasn’t been enacted before, and the MID offers no explanation as to why it is now. The transporter will seal and then be permitted to dock in the Cargo Bay, where the procedure will begin. All crew on the transporter have to dispose of their clothing by placing it inside hazardous waste bags located in a compartment near the front of the craft. After all clothing is stored, a gas-like substance will fill the transporter, breathable yet tasteless, and once it dissipates, crew will be free to go. ☄ D.ON'T E.VER L.EAVE ( 04.18 - 04.23 ) After the decontamination procedures for the Moira go off, the captains issue a ship-wide alert to let the crew know that the ship is picking up on something inside each person that boarded the space station. It is speculated that the crew came in contact with an unknown biological contaminant either during the station’s decontamination procedure or sometime after. At this point, they aren’t aware of what will happen to those that are carrying the contaminant, and the captains ask for anybody with experience to head to the Medbay to begin testing. Crew don’t appear to be in any danger, so they are allowed to continue gathering materials and supplies on board the space station at their discretion. (Every time they come and go, they will be made to go through the procedure described above). ☄ FEAR ME, LOVE ME, DO AS I SAY ( 04.24 - 04.28 ) Like most unfortunate things, it seems everything happens all at once. The noises you heard, a step falling moments after yours or a rattle coming from the vents, become louder. You can’t place where they are coming from at first. You turn, you follow, but the search yields no results. And then, without any warning, it’s crystal clear as “they” begin to creep and move from within the shadows and ruined sections of Del Pascia: the prisoners and workers said to have been relocated by D-E-L. Their voice is one, regardless of how many gather, and they tell you, “You can be happy here” and “I can make you better” shortly after. As always, fearing for the safety of the crew (and despite the disrepair of the Moira from events prior), the captains ask for all those capable to assist with extracting those aboard Del Pascia as quickly as possible before D-E-L tries to lock them inside. Running, after all, is better than dying, and it’s certainly something everyone aboard the Moira has gotten quite good at. |
C!
Keep yourself as safe as you can for ten seconds!
[There's a fizzle of an electric surge, some crackling, and a pause. Door hacking in progress.
True to her word, almost perfectly on the count of 10, the door zips open, as if scalded.
On the other side stands Shepard, heavy pistol in hand, tapping at her omni-tool. When Robin meets her eyes, she nods to the girl, and gestures towards herself.]
Ready to get out of here?
sorry about the lateness!
She sort of expects the door to get knocked down, though, as opposed to hacked open. Which is why Shepard will find Robin huddled over to the side of the door frame when she enters the room.
The rest of the room is a far more gruesome sight. The bodies of the zombies are all slumped on the the ground - twisted and contorted in ways that look like they should have been painful and fatal. Their necks, particularly, look bad as the head appear to have been torn from their shoulders.
Incidentally, that's precisely what happened. A glance at the ceiling will reveal the missing heads - each held up by a pair of human arms that appears to have grown out of the ceiling.
Now that the door is open, the girl wastes no time running to Shepard's side.]
Yes please. [She says, taking only a brief glance back at the same mies in the room.] They kept trying to put themselves back together...
Np! :D
Are those... your hands? [It doesn't seem possible, or even make sense, but what on the Moira did?]
no subject
[She answers hastily, as though that's the answer to any question Shepard could have, regarding her bizarre power. ]
Can't we talk about this later? I don't want to be here anymore.
[She's had a pretty rough week, to be honest. Being trapped in a room full of zombies had just been the icing on the cake.
Plus, now the heads are moving their jaws, trying to wriggle around in a way that really makes her want to drop them.]
no subject
I cleared a pathway through to here. Not sure if it'll still be clear on the way back, but... [she trails off, and shrugs.] I'm guessing we can handle whatever comes our way.
Just let me shut the door on these guys, and we can be on our way. I tend to prefer my missions with as few surprise attacks as possible. [She flashes Robin a quick smile, and in the work of a quick moment, re-seals the doors with a new set of permissions. That should buy us some time, at least.]
All finished. Now let's get the heck out of here.
[And they're off, headed back the way Shepard came!]
no subject
Lead the way.
[ She agrees that, together, they should be able to manage anything they run into. Robin, at least, is capable of subduing any of the undead that try to get a hold of her. That, combined with this woman's ability to open locked doors, gives them a pretty solid chance. ]
...I'm Robin, by the way.
no subject
Commander Shepard. [Beat; the situation is so home-like, she almost forgot.] Uh, just "Shepard" is fine, though.
[She re-orients her omni-tool, and gestures, not unkindly, to her companion.]
Let's go.
[They proceed quietly and efficiently, and sure enough, the way back is relatively clear — relatively too clear, she finds herself correcting. So when, halfway to the transporters, there's a nigh-inaudible sound of scraping and shuffling around a blind corner, Shepard's pistol is already out and initialized. She turns to Robin, and inclines her head towards the sound.]
Hear it?
no subject
[She says with a nod, wasting no time following the woman. She'll have to ask about that 'Commander' thing later, but right now isn't the time to be judging her savior.
When they get to the corner, she stops as Shepard does. In response to Shepard's question, she nods once more and closes her eyes for a moment - spawning a few new sets of eyes on the ceiling and the walls of the hallway that the sounds are coming from. ]
...yeah, I see it too. There are six of them.
[She opens her eyes once more - closing the ones in the hallway to keep them better hidden, but not letting them disappear just yet. When she continues, she speaks softly.]
I don't think shooting them is going to work - I twisted the other ones until they came apart, and they just put themselves back together.
I... think I can hold them still, so we can pass, though. But you can't shoot while I'm doing it, or I'll get hurt too.
no subject
Okay, here's what I'm thinking: [As she speaks, her entire body begins to glow with a light, almost warm, blue aura of energy.] I'll jump out there first, use a shockwave attack to throw them back, and once they're scattered back from us, you come out and grab them. No shooting required.
Sound good?
no subject
Right now, though, they've got a problem to deal with. Six problems, to be precise. Robin doesn't question Shepard's ability to create shockwaves - if the woman says she can do it, then there's no reason to believe she can't.]
Sounds good.
[She nods again, and crosses her arms. The eyes on the walls and ceiling open up once more, getting a good view into the hallway - and clearly visible to anyone who may or may not rush jump out into the corridor in the next minute or so.]
They're coming closer. I'm ready when you are.
no subject
[On the beat she'd say "one", she's off, dashing out — and as the monstrous figures reach to grab her, she pushes forward a wave of blue energy that pops off, one after another, to the very back of the room.
The inmates go flying, looking like ragdolls thrown in a heavy breeze. She opens her mouth to tell Robin — but there's no need. Her "eyes" are already there, hands at the ready. All things considered, she might be the best partner I could have for this.]
no subject
Instead, as the inmates are thrown against the walls and floor, she sprouts dozens of arms from the surfaces around them, grabbing on tightly to the creatures' limbs, refusing to let them pull themselves free.]
Got them. [She says as she follows Shepard out into the hall. The look on her face is one of disgust, as if she's fighting the urge to gag.]
...let's keep going. They feel really gross to touch, and they're... wriggling.
no subject
Straight ahead. We're almost home-free.
[They're making good time — not quite running, but jogging fast. No point in dumping their stamina before the goal.]
We've got a right turn coming up in fifty meters. Once we make it, drop them. They won't be able to make up the distance to pursue us from there.
no subject
They reach the corner together without issue - which is good, because Robin's powers have a limit at which they can operate, and they're cutting it pretty close. She lets the inmates go, subconsciously wiping her hand off on her uniform after she does so, as if she's mentally trying to get the feeling of them off of her.]
...how much further?
no subject
[If nothing else jumps us. She mentally shakes it off giving Robin an appraising look.]
You want to slow down a bit, or you doing okay?
no subject
[She isn't out of breath yet, at least. Fortunately the act of restraining the undead didn't put too much of a strain on her - one of the beautiful things about having so many limbs is that the strain is shared between all of them. Which means that it's a lot less strenuous on them individually - and a lot less tiring for Robin.]
I can make it.
no subject
[They keep jogging, and despite the sounds from the facility itself, the hall is relatively clear. Goal almost in sight, Shepard nods to the final door ahead.]
Behind there. I should be able to brute-force hack it open in a couple of seconds. [beat;] Provided we're uninterrupted. Can you keep an eye or two out?
