"There will be no prison which can hold our movement down."

The Ingress has pulled you in. Your body experiences several sensations at once: being pushed forward as if a hand is resting on your back, momentary and startling blindness, a gentle ringing in your head. You have difficulty discerning whether it is hot or cold, but where you have been prodded is noticeably warmer than the rest of you. Some may suffer from dizziness while others are perfectly fine. Once equilibrium has been reestablished, you will notice you are standing on a long platform and that the room is filled with a soft cerulean light. It's slightly humid and dark despite the glow around you, and nothing is familiar.

Yet, unlike most new crew arrivals, this one is in the middle of chaos.

Despite more recent events, the planet of Emiri is not as peaceful as it once was. Frederick Link is still missing, and the authorities of Emiri have yet to lift the interplanetary ban they have placed on all space crafts docked at the aerospace. The captains previous held a meeting asking crew for any and all information that might help them locate the Komai, a mysterious group determined to undermine Link'd Inc's work providing flourishing matches across the universe by causing random acts of violence and protest across the three main cities: Harashan, Avelle, and St. Murtel. These things have led to mass arrests as well as an unsettling atmosphere spreading across the planet, and since a previous broadcast, things are beginning to escalate.

A downward spiral of these events begins as soon as new arrivals start to leave the Ingress—an unmarked box arrives in the cargo bay addressed to the inhabitants of the Moira. As per his job, Niko Bellic is the one to discover this box and open it. For some, the contents may be particularly gruesome. Link’s body is inside, clothed in a simple white button-down and pants (no shoes), and it looks as if letters have begun to bleed through the material. Anyone with expert knowledge of torture may note that Link was, in fact, tortured for information, and those letters? The writing itself spells out the name St. Murtel.

The captains, having been alerted of this, make an attempt to contact those at Link’d Inc. Unfortunately, the damage has already been done.

☄ First: MISCOMMUNICATION
Somehow, whether intentional or not, the Komai have once again hacked public systems and networks to brand those of the Moira as the ones behind these terroristic acts. They still use their own name, but the images are different, focusing on familiar faces wearing the ship’s uniforms and traveling to the Aerospace to return to the Moira. Not only that, there are short recordings of Link’s final words that mention a very recognizable name: Captain Thán. The Komai have redirected the blame to the Moira and its crew for their own means, and in response, any and all crew who are captured by authorities will immediately be detained and shipped out to unknown locations. The Captains send a message via MID and request everyone return to the ship to prevent this from happening. Yet, not all messages will be delivered depending on how far away they are.

With everyone’s safety hanging in the balance, the Captains have decided to take things into their own hands and find a way to lift the block on the Moira so they can leave Emiri’s orbit and avoid further repercussions regardless of whether or not any one of the crew wants to stay.

☄ Second: DECOY & DISTRACT
After learning that Benjamin Link, son of recently deceased Frederick Link, knows how to unlock the ship so they can leave, the captains ask for volunteers to act as decoys on a mission to the Aerospace in Harashan. Their job is to distract guards and Emiri citizens, leaving the path clear for Benjamin to get to the computers. The captains reiterate that they are to use nonfatal methods as they don’t want a repeat of the events on Caducus Primary. Without his help, the ship won’t be able to leave, making this mission critical and extremely time sensitive.

☄ Third: RESCUE
During the mission, Benjamin informs the crew that the Komai aren’t incorrect in their claims that Link’d Inc uses unforgivable means to obtain information in order to make their matches perfect. The children the crew dreamed about are just two of many—the offspring of Emirian citizens who had gone missing. It has long been suspected that Link’d Inc was involved in their disappearances, but only recently has the Komai done anything to shed light on these gruesome rumors. Benjamin, after successfully unlocking the ship, disables the security systems in St. Murtel, which will allow the children a chance to escape. They’ll need assistance in getting out of St. Murtel and to a pre-designated area in Avelle where a group of Komai and Emirians will be waiting for them.

But be careful. If anyone is recognized as part of the crew, they will be placed under arrest for treason and possibly never heard from again.

☄ Fourth: BREAKING OUT
Now that the computer systems in Harashan’s Aerospace have been used to release the Moira, the entire crew are being called back via MID for an expedient exit from Emiri. Crew will be asked to assist other Moirans in getting back to the ship as quickly as possible via transporters or other small crafts as leaving is their only option at this point. In the escape, Emiri launches an attack on the Moira in an attempt to stop them. The ship’s previously unused defense systems activate, and those assigned to those positions are required to man their posts. Perhaps even those who don’t have the clearance are needed. Either way, it’s time to leave.

☄ Fifth: REFUGEES
Now that the ship has finally escaped Emiri’s orbit, the crew will notice a group of stragglers in the main hall. During the crew’s quick exit, about fifty Emirians have taken refuge aboard the Moira, and the captains have agreed to take them to the closest planet so they may start again or live a life free of Link’d Inc “rule”. The captains ask the crew to help get them clothes and food for their short stay, no longer than a day at most, and to occupy them as best they can. Tell jokes, sing songs, bring up the kittens so that everyone can attempt to wind down after this series of unfortunate events. Light entertainment won’t be provided, but on request, some crew members may do just that.

refugees

[Al isn't exactly inconspicuous amongst the refugees. Not with his suit of spiked armour that stands well over seven feet in height, and with his footsteps that echo with a loud clang each time he moves.

But he does try and keep himself as quiet as possible to not disturb the story, waiting until there's a natural break in her words to actually approach.]

Here.

[He holds out some food he took from the mess hall earlier, voice warm.]

You should eat something, you look pretty tired.

[She likes this story - one with a good 'happily ever after' is just what these poor kids need. It's hard to tell her from the refugees right now; she's still in her Emirian clothing and the MID is only sign that she's actually part of the crew.

Or at least Wanda assumes Al's confused her for one of them. She shakes her head, though food sounds great right now. She didn't realize she was hungry until she smelled it.]

Have the rest of these people eaten? I can wait...they need it more.

It's okay, I've been bringing other food down. I can't do a lot to help, but I can at least do that.

[He pushes the tray towards her again, smile in his voice even if not visible on his helmet.]

You still need to eat and keep your strength up, or else you won't be able to help them much longer yourself.

[personal profile] seeingscarlet 2016-02-09 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
[Her stomach growls before she can say anything, and at that point there's really no point in protesting anymore, is there? Wanda smiles sheepishly and takes the tray.]

That is enough, sometimes. I think they are grateful.

[She pauses, a bite of some sort of fruit halfway to her mouth. She's still operating under the perfectly reasonable assumption that there's a body inside the armor.] Have you eaten?

[personal profile] armoured 2016-02-09 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmhm.

[He doesn't even stumble over the lie this time, because it's only natural she would ask in return.]

I had a big meal earlier so I really don't need anything else, which means you get to eat everything on this tray.

[Yes, he is perfectly capable of standing over her like a mother hen until she does. He can't do a lot in this situation, so new and confused, so he'll do everything he actually can do with a whole heart. Even if that something is bullying other people into eating.]

I'm Al, by the way, Alphonse Elric. I really liked the story you were telling, I've never heard anything like it before.

Wanda Maximoff. [She smiles and scoots over so there's room for him to sit, if he even can in that thing. Her own roommate refused to take off her armor for the first week, so she's learned not to question it even though there's nothing particularly dangerous here.]

It was a Russian story. I've always liked Vasilisa, but maybe I should tell one with fairies next time. [She pauses to stick that bite of fruit in her mouth and chew. See, she can be good.] What do you think?
armoured: (gen] ha ha ha)

[personal profile] armoured 2016-02-09 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[Russian, what's that? A famous writer of stories? A place? A genre of fiction?

He settles himself down next to her with ease, though he still towers above her and he's careful not to brain her in the head with one of his shoulder spikes.]

I'm afraid I don't know any stories with fairies in either. [He rubs the back of his helmet, chuckling.] You definitely seem a better choice for storyteller, I'll stick to ferrying food.

[oh you sweet summer child

Wanda scoots forward a little bit, slightly more out of the way of those spikes. She would like to not get smacked with those, thank you very much.]

No knights, no dragons? You look like you belong in a story with them. 'Sir Alphonse the Bold,' maybe.

[Wanda's kidding, but maybe the kids have overheard her. At least one of them has glanced their way...careful Al, or you might be the star of the next bedtime story.]
armoured: (happy] think)

[personal profile] armoured 2016-02-11 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[He sits up a little straighter, puffing out his big metal chest in pride at being given such a title.]

Thanks, but I'm really not a knight. I'm just an alchemist, nothing so fantastical. It would be pretty fun if I could be a knight, though.

[He's such a dork.]
seeingscarlet: (happy; 054)

ahahaha that icon

[personal profile] seeingscarlet 2016-02-12 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
[Hey that is fantastical. She's never met one of those before and neither have the children whoa re gathering on the fringes.]

I think you could be an alchemist knight. It would help you save the kingdom, yes?

And of course you would have your dragon friend and the help of the Firebird.

[Too late, Al, this is happening.]
armoured: (happy] ymca)

al has so many dumb faces

[personal profile] armoured 2016-02-12 12:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[He catches sight of the children edging closer, and his enthusiasm becomes in part for them, with big arm gestures that are corny as heck.]

Of course! I'm the Brave and Noble Sir Alphonse of Resembool, I've got to have companions to help me save the kingdom.

[...]

Um, though what exactly is a firebird?
seeingscarlet: (happy; 021)

[personal profile] seeingscarlet 2016-02-12 12:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[Eek, try not to brain her, Al.] She is...like a fairy. You saved her from bad people who wanted to capture her, so she gave you one of her feathers.

[She shoots a glance at the children and adds a dramatic flourish of her own.]

If you are in trouble, you wave the feather in the air and she will come to help you. You will need her to fight the evil wizard who kidnapped the prince and princess of Resembool. [Pause for effect.]
armoured: (silly] cthulu arms)

[personal profile] armoured 2016-02-12 12:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[Just the idea of a prince and princess of Resembool, that tiny village nestled in the mountains, is amusing enough to make him chuckle.]

An evil wizard? Oh no!

[He is legitimately the worst actor.]

I wonder if any of these children would be brave enough to battle the evil wizard at my side...
seeingscarlet: (happy; 063)

[personal profile] seeingscarlet 2016-02-12 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[The kids are perfectly willing to play along, slowly coming out of wherever they're hiding. Wanda asks their names and gives them similarly heroic titles: the greatest archer in all the lands, the good witch, and the guardian of the forest.]

So the brave heroes left Resembool to rescue the prince and princess. They traveled for several days and nights before they reached the river... [She's blanking on a name, but one of the kids quickly supplies the name of the great river that runs through Avelle.]

The Wem-Run river. There was only one bridge across it for a very long way, but blocking it...was a terrible monster.

[Another pause for effect. Al, she's counting on you to help supply the reactions.]

It had horns and claws and teeth longer than your arm. The smell was terrible. But the heroes were not afraid. [She turns to Al.] Sir Alphonse, what will you do?
armoured: (gen] elementary)

[personal profile] armoured 2016-02-12 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[Al is getting into the story just as much as the kids. It's been so long since anyone told him a tale that was pure fiction, it makes him nostalgic for his mother's smile.

He gasps dramatically in all the right places and then lifts up one of the children to perch on his shoulders to a whoop of delight from the little girl in question.]

First I have to call for my trusty band of warriors! Then together, we'll find a way to ford the river further down, so that we don't have to hurt the creature.

[Uh oh, is he trying to insert a lesson into this story? Maybe.]

Because a brave knight knows that even if something looks different on the outside, that doesn't necessarily make it a monster.
seeingscarlet: (happy; 071)

[personal profile] seeingscarlet 2016-02-16 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
[...are you sure you're not a knight, Al? Because you're certainly acting like one.]

And because of their kindness, the fairy who lived in the river created a path of stones for them to cross. The 'monster' was her friend, her protector.

She told them where to find the evil wizard and that the only way to defeat him was to -- [Wanda glances around for anything that might stand out. The egg is classic, but she wants to make it something fun for the kids...] take his magic hat. Without it, he would be powerless.

And so the heroes arrived safely at the wizard's castle.
armoured: (gen] headtilt)

[personal profile] armoured 2016-02-24 10:32 am (UTC)(link)
[He can't help but chuckle as the children giggle and crowd round further, they remind him so of Elicia and Nina, and it's wonderful to see they can still smile even after all that's happened to them.]

Inside the evil wizard's castle was a princess too, Princess Wanda, who had magic of her own.

[He has no idea how right he sort of is.]

She had the power of stories, and her stories could make the world a better place, which is why wizard had imprisoned her. The heroes have to get the hat and the princess out, but they're at opposite ends of the castle...
